Since my last report there have been very few Crime incidents in Kislingbury. Let us continue to be vigilant and work to keep our Village safe.

NHW Newsletter October 2011

Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter - Kisle News October 2011

The Police have informed me that there is a new Phone Number we can use for Non Emergency calls. The new 101 national police non-emergency number is being launched in Northamptonshire in October. From Monday 17 October, 101 will be the new number to contact Northamptonshire Police. The 101 non-emergency number will provide you with a single, easy to remember number for you to call to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency police response. You will be able to call 101 to report a crime that has already happened and any other incidents or concerns that do not require an emergency response. You can also call it to speak to your local Safer Community Team, to make a general enquiry or make the Police aware of any policing issues in your local area. 999 should still be used in an emergency, such as when a crime is happening, someone suspected of a crime is nearby, someone is injured, being threatened or a life is at risk, or there is a traffic incident involving personal injury or danger. If you have any hearing difficulties or a speech impairment send text messages to 18001 101. Calls to 101 from landlines and mobiles cost 15 pence per call, no matter what time of day you call or how long your call lasts. 101 is already in use in a number of areas across England and Wales and is being rolled out to the remaining police force areas on a phased basis over the next few months. The Police local number – 03000 111 222 – will remain available while 101 becomes established and for those calling from outside England and Wales, as well as for callers outside Northamptonshire where 101 is not yet live. The dedicated ‘Neighbourhood Watch Line’ number 01604 432436 is still fully operational and will remain so once 101 has been launched.
Halloween and Bonfire Nights are close and we should all be extra vigilant about safety during this period as young people are often involved with these events. We need to take care to supervise Trick and Treating activities, respecting those who have put up signs that they do not wish to be involved. And the dangers of Fire and Fireworks are well known and need adults to supervise all situations. Let us keep our Village safe over this period.

There is a new "Watch" Scheme that has been launched. This is called Dog Watch.  Following the hugely successful launch of Dog Watch in East Northamptonshire and Wellingborough, the Dog Watch team have extended the scheme across the whole county and are keen to invite all members of the Community to join as a member. Dog watch was originally developed in Stevenage as a way of extending the already successful Neighbourhood Watch network to the wider community. The scheme recognises it is often those who walk their dogs, runners or anyone who likes to get out and about, who are the first to spot something unusual or amiss, such as criminal damage or an incident of anti-social behaviour, providing valuable eyes and ears for the community. If you are one of these people and would like to start a Dog Watch Group in Kislingbury to support the Neighbourhood Watch activities please contact me and I will put you in touch with the right people.

NHW Newsletter September 2011

Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter - Kisle News September 2011

Village news - I am very pleased to report that my name sake, Tim Ward, who lives in Millers Close, has volunteered to be the Street Representative for that Street. He will soon be calling on Residents in Millers Close to hand out Door Stickers and Leaflets.  Please give him all the support you can in making Millers Close a safe street.
There are still streets which do not have Street Representatives (Ashby Close, and Bugbrooke Road) and in my mind these streets are more vulnerable as there is no obvious NHW presence. Please contact me (telephone number and email address below) if you wish to volunteer to be the Street Representative for your street. Please see the Village Web site for the full list of Street Representatives at http://nhw.kislingburyonline.co.uk/2010/09/street-representatives.html.

Please remember to be careful about leaving Doors and Windows open. It only takes seconds for a thief to enter a house, snatch valuables, and be out again if the windows and doors are not locked. Keep your valuables, house keys, and car keys out of sight of Windows or Letter Flaps as it is easy to "fish" them out. Please also remember that even if a Caller to a house appears to be genuine the Police still want to check them. Please call me or the Police on the number shown below to report anyone calling on you without an appointment.

We are still seeing relatively few crimes in our Village and Region and I hope this continues. We need to be vigilant, and be sure to challenge anyone who looks suspicious. The reports that I have been getting from the Police concern mainly thefts from Farms of metal and machinery. Whilst this does not directly effect Village life we should still be aware that criminals seem to be targeting Farms and Businesses

We have had a few crimes reported in the Village in the last Month. I show these below. For Police Crime Reports please Visit the NHW News Page on the Village Web site http://nhw.kislingburyonline.co.uk/

NHW Newsletter August 2011

Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter - Kisle News August 2011

Village news - At a recent meeting with our Community Police Officer I learned that Crime in our Village for the period of 1st April to 31st July this year compared to last year is around 50% down in cases of Crimes as well as cases of Nuisance incidents. I would like to think that all the NHW team has played a part in this result. We need to continue to keep up our vigilance in order to prevent it getting worse. There are still streets which do not have Street Representatives (Millers Close, Ashby Close, and Bugbrooke Road) and in my mind these street are more vulnerable as there is no obvious NHW presence. Please contact me (telephone number and email address below) if you wish to volunteer to be the Street Representative for your street. This is not hard work, but it does help to make your neighbourhood more secure.

Our first Street Meeting with the Police (the new way the Police will interact with the Community) was held on July 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the Car Park near the Toddler Play Area of the Playing Fields. The focus was on Anti-Social Behaviour and the Streets targeted were Hall Close, Beech Lane, The Green, and High Street. About a dozen villagers turned up to have a general discussion and then had the opportunity to discuss more individual matters with the Police Officers who were present. I will let you know when the next meeting is planned.

Keep your valuables, house keys, and car keys out of sight of Windows or Letter Flaps as it is easy to "fish" them out. Please also remember that even if a Caller to a house appears to be genuine the Police still want to check them. NHW Newsletter June 2011

Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter - Kisle News June 2011
Village news - I have received very little information since the last Newsletter of any crime or other incidents in the Village (I have not yet received the latest Crime Report so there may be more news in the next Newsletter).  We seem to be enjoying a calm time at the moment and all need to be vigilant to keep it so. A planned "Rave" at the Playing Fields in May did not happen due to precautions taken and the strong presence of the Police during the evening. We need to keep our ears open to try to stop these events happening. Any information you may have about parties being organised please tell me or Mike Jackson of the Playing Field Association.

Suspicious Cars were seen one night near the playing fields and when they were aware of the interest in them left immediately. A Registration number was passed on to the Police. A White truck supposedly collecting metal was challenged earlier this month and left immediately. The Village was alerted to the presence of the truck and the Registration Number was passed on to the Police.

Our first Street Meeting with the Police (the new way the Police will interact with the Community) will be held on July 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the Car Park near the Toddler Play Area of the Playing Fields. The focus will be on Anti-Social Behaviour and the Streets targeted are Hall Close, Beech Lane, The Green, and High Street. But anyone in the Village who would like to raise issues with the Police is Welcome, even if you do not live in those Streets.

Hopefully the weather will soon be getting warmer so it is time to remind everyone to be careful about leaving Doors and Windows open. It only takes seconds for a thief to enter a house, snatch valuables, and be out again, if the windows and doors are not locked.

NHW Newsletter April 2011

Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter - Kisle News April 2011

Village news - After last month when I reported an increase in incidents it appears that we have had a quiet month. There have been few Police reports for circulation to the Street Representatives so I can only assume that our region is also enjoying a relatively quiet time. I show below the information for our Village and the Region which I have received in the Crime Report for March.

Kislingbury Banbury Road. Burglary in a building [not dwelling] between the hours of 2230 on 28th and 0200 on 29th Mar 2011. Person[s] gain entry to building via secure door and remove copper wiring. Banbury Road. Burglary in a building [ not dwelling ]between the hours of 2300 on 30th and  0800 on 31st  Mar 2011. Person[s] gain entry to building by damaging wooden door. Various items removed including copper piping. High Street . Criminal damage to building between the hours of 0020 and 0900 on 26th Mar 2011. Person[s] throw unknown object at front window of premise causing glass to smash. Mill Road. Criminal damage to vehicle between the hours of 2300 on 11th and 1100 on 12th Mar 2011. Person[s] damage three tyres on vehicle. Twigden Road. Theft from vehicle between the hours of 1000 and 2245 on 11th Mar 2011. Person[s] remove front and rear registration plate from vehicle

It is very important to tell the Police that an incident is happening, or as soon after as you can. If we do not tell them, and the thieves see no Police response, they will conclude that Kislingbury is easy pickings and come back again. The Police do not mind getting calls. More importantly they need the calls to help them fight Crime. Please use 999 for Emergencies or the number 01604 432 436 to report what you see immediately, or call me on 07855 388 751, if you want to report a crime or something or somebody suspicious.

Local news - Based on the monthly Police Crime Report.
